Droomeiland Ypenburg / Dream Island Ypenburg by Mobile project office OpTrek
during Close Encounters Ypenburg Festival
Date: Saturday 11 September, 12.00 to 24.00 hours
Aren't we all looking for a dream partner or a dream house? A life in a place where the sun is always shining, without youngsters hanging around and street litter? OpTrek (Sabrina Lindemann / Annechien Meier) nestled down at Patrijsplantsoen right in the centre of Ypenburg, one of the potential dream districts of the Netherlands, where expectations are high and where every effort is made to make dreams come true. In a special setting, Droomeiland Ypenburg / Dream Island Ypenburg, they received Ypenburg residents and through an open-air video studio (by Iraxte jaio en Klaas van Gorkum) they collected wishes and visions of residents, which were presented to the district on video later that evening.
The festival Close Encounter was organized by the art lending library Artoteek Den Haag. On Saturday 11 September it was possible to enjoy films, videos and visual art during the festival. In temporary cinemas in vacant houses and in the open-air cinema people could see films such as: De Noorderlingen by Alex van Warmerdam, Blue Velvet by David Lynch and Hundstage by Ulrich Seidl. On another location Justin Bennett performed 'reverse exorcism' by filling a vacant house with sounds from Ypenburg. Besides, people could watch a selection of the best Dutch animations, special video clips, art videos and short films.
